Gordons Chemists tasked Walkers with giving their Christmas creative a refresh with new visuals for their 2021 Christmas Campaign. They wanted to refresh their Christmas theme but still maintain a consistent brand look and feel with their key colours. In keeping with the brand but refreshed look and feel.

In March, we met with the client and discussed how they’d like to go forward. Working with them, we discussed the current market and competitors, and what design elements they wanted us to explore. The Walkers team started with a mood board, looking at the brand journey Gordons have had with their Christmas creative. We wanted this new Christmas creative to have real stand out appeal against our client’s competitors yet still very on brand and enable customers to instantly recognise the Gordons brand. We looked at various colour schemes, from the usual Christmassy red and gold tones but decided on the strong Gordons Chemists brand colours of a light blue and a rich navy. The colours were therefore based on a continuation of the brand but adding a Christmas look and feel to ensure in store ‘stand out’.

It was agreed that we wanted to aim for a more luxury and magical gift experience, that Gordons provide in store and online. Working closely with the client from initial design concepts, to visual ideas for decals, messaging and headline ideas for tone of voice, the final Christmas creative provides a luxurious look and feel.

The client wanted to be more progressive and move away from gender focused gifts, and instead offer the perfect gift for everyone. As a result, Gordons wanted to incorporate fresh new headlines to stand out in their brochure pages and the Walker team enjoyed brainstorming fun, new headlines. We focused on the theme of Magic- which tied in with the glitter elements of the creative- and brought the Magical Gifts from Gordons creative to life.

Once the Christmas creative was signed off, we commenced work on the brochure which required a complete design overhaul and incorporated the new look, headlines and decals. We also created a new way of displaying the products on podiums to help them stand out and the new decals to highlight the great product offers Gordons have to offer.

Walkers also had to keep in mind the full list of assets that the visuals would be used on from press ads, to in-store POS, radio and TV campaigns and of course Gordons social media and website. As well as updating the new Christmas design, we were able to incorporate the Spend Local cards seamlessly into the creative, to help highlight the Gordons 10% store offer for customers when using their Spend Local cards. It was great to incorporate this in to the design in order to remind customers to spend local at their nearby Gordons Chemists.
