Shortly after graduating from Ulster University with a degree in Communication, Advertising and Marketing, I spotted an email from careers for the Graduate Internship Programme. This programme looked like a fantastic opportunity and one that I would be silly to ignore, as it combined a 12-week work-based internship with a postgraduate module called Demonstrating your Professional Identity.

After browsing through the list of companies on offer for my internship, I applied to Walker Communications as I knew that it was a fantastic company where I would be able to develop my current skillset and put into practice what I had learnt in my degree.
I started my 12-week internship at the beginning of October 2022 and jumped straight into the exciting busyness of agency life. As I had previous experience in digital marketing, I was given tasks to assist my team in creating content plans and scheduling them on Facebook’s creator studio. I was open to all opportunities and was quick to learn how to set up Facebook and Instagram ad campaigns and assist in the building of an outdoor advertising campaign.

Despite being the only non-tea drinker in account management… my team have made me feel very welcome during my internship at Walker Communications, and I am so thankful that I was able to gain such valuable experience at this early stage of my graduate career.
I would like to thank everyone at Walker Communications for their patience and kindness whilst I learnt the ropes and I am delighted to be able to continue my role at Walker Communications now that I have completed the Graduate Internship Programme. I am excited to learn more about the advertising and marketing world, build relationships with clients and work on new, exciting campaigns.

I am very grateful for the time, effort and kindness that Walker staff have willingly shared with me. I’m really looking forward to using the skills, confidence and relationships I developed in Walker Communications throughout my future, to prosper in my career in marketing.
