Connswater has been working hard over the last year to build and engage with its Social Media audiences with over 16,300 likes on Facebook, 2,460 followers on Instagram and an average monthly engagement rate per post of 4.5%.

With the majority of the shopping centre closed due to the outbreak over the last 12 weeks, we wanted to continue to engage with our audiences by giving something back and offer advice and entertainment to help get through the period of uncertainty and to keep engaging with our followers.

Initial early reports from Opensignal indicated the substantial increase in mobile usage and Wifi network usage rising from 53.4% - 64.7% in the US by the 1st week in April. To this end we along with the Centre Manager Mark Rainey, who has been forthright and completely onboard with driving the social media, implemented our plan to continually communicate with our loyal followers and customers throughout the lockdown.

We created a variety of posts and messages with some examples below from scavenger hunts, how to make playdough for kids, support for our key workers and our Connswater book download.

Video content and usage was increasing with Youtube viewing up 53% in the UK January versus March. The appetite seemed to be for quizzing, comedy and live music. We engaged with a local artist who had supported some of our previous events and Saturday Sessions was born with Damian Higgins. These consisted of a two-hour live session with live commenting and requests. The sessions have been well received with over 13,000 views and over 4,500 comments & reactions so far.

We are continually working with Connswater and all our clients to engage with their customers across their social channels and staying relevant. If you fancy watching Damian Higgins live click here:
